Various Locations, CAHazardous Waste Removal
Performed hazardous waste abatement and removal activities at 13 separate sites located on United States Forest Service (USFS) properties across the State of California. At six sites, performed testing and abatement of asbestos containing materials (ACM) including transite pipe, exterior siding panels, interior flooring, roofing materials, and windows. At five sites, testing and abatement of lead based paint. ACM and lead paint abatement activities performed in accordance with applicable OSHA and State regulations. Disposal of these hazardous materials performed at appropriate landfill or disposal facility, in accordance with Federal and State regulations.
Performed aboveground storage tank (AST) and underground storage tank (UST) removals at two sites. AST removal consisted of testing internal tank conditions, removing hazardous materials inside AST, and proper disposal of the tank. UST removal consisted of excavating area surrounding tank, triple-rinsing and disposing of hazardous materials inside tank, and proper disposal of the tank. Excavation of hydrocarbon impacted soils surrounding former UST was also performed.
Soil and groundwater investigations associated with former USTs performed at two sites. These investigations consisted of advancing soil borings in the vicinity of the former tanks and collecting soils for laboratory analysis. Separate closure reports were prepared for each site, and were submitted to the Regional Water Quality Control Board.
Project Relevance
Hazardous waste testing and removals required strict adherence to Federal, State, and Local regulations, in varying parts of California. Work was often performed in remote locations. Individual tasks were completed to the satisfaction of USFS inspectors, and in accordance with established contract.
